Programme Overview

The LIQ Level 5 Extended Diploma in Law provides learners with a broad and structured understanding of the English legal system and key areas of law. Delivered across two stages of study at Levels 4 and 5, the programme develops learners’ legal knowledge, analytical reasoning, research, problem-solving and professional communication skills. Learners will examine areas including contract law, criminal law, public law, tort law, land law, equity and trusts, company law, employment law and international law. The programme also develops the ability to interpret legislation, analyse judicial decisions, apply legal principles to practical situations and construct well-supported legal arguments.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should normally:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Hold a Level 3 qualification or equivalent
  • Demonstrate sufficient English-language ability

Mature applicants may be considered based on relevant education or professional experience.

Progression

Graduates may progress to employment, professional development or further study in law and related disciplines. They may also apply for advanced entry to a related bachelor’s degree, subject to the receiving institution’s admission and credit-recognition requirements. Completion of this diploma does not itself confer professional legal status or eligibility to practise law. Learners intending to enter a regulated legal profession should confirm the relevant academic and professional requirements in the jurisdiction where they wish to practise.
